We would like to congratulate the inaugural recipient of the RGF Integrated Wealth Management James E Rogers Leadership Scholarship! Angela Marian May is a PhD candidate studying in the Department of English and Cultural Studies at McMaster University.

Her experience volunteering with the Powell Street Festival Society (PSFS), and the Downtown Eastside SRO Collaborative, informs her doctoral project, which explores the relationship between the Japanese Canadian and Downtown Eastside communities.

We sought to recognize an individual who demonstrates positive leadership impact in the community and feel that Angela was an excellent choice made by our external adjudicators. She will receive $5,000 to go toward her education.

Thank you to the many accomplished applicants who took the time to apply; we invite you and others to apply next year.

“I have come to understand that my greatest impact is not going to come through committees or boards, but through kindness. Certainly, there is very real work to be done – but it is difficult to do that work if people do not feel welcome. Kindness comes first.” – Angela Marian May
